Information for visitors

If you are facing a road traffic allegation and this is not resolved by way of a fixed penalty, or if you are denying the matter, then you will have to attend the Magistrates Court.  At Southampton Magistrates Court your hearing may take place either in the morning or the afternoon session, but either way you may have a very long wait.  The reason for this is because Southampton Magistrates Court deals with all manner of criminal cases and tends to view road traffic cases, such as yours, as less serious than other matters (particularly those involving somebody in custody).

When you arrive at Southampton Magistrates Court the security staff will carry out a check of your belongings.  After this you should approach the usher at the main reception desk where they will take the name and details of your solicitor who is attending. You can then take a seat in the waiting area.
